For our children
I have been drawing since I was three years old. My first artist renderings were sketched on the inside of our family's encyclopedia set. My mama didn't whip my butt but instead she bought me a sketch book and encouraged me to make more beautiful pictures. (I can still hear the "that's pretty baby" resonating in my mind. The beginning of my writing career was prompted by the death of my nephew, Allen Lee Sellers, Jr. He died tragically in a fire in 1983 when he was only four years old. The memory of my nephew, as well as the creativity of my own children inspire me. No matter how old you are, my prayer is that you will see something in my children's work that inspires you to tap into your creativity.
